Electricity Bill Calculator for Cooling & Heating Devices
What is the Heating/Cooling Electricity Bill Calculator?
The Heating/Cooling Electricity Bill Calculator is a practical tool that helps you easily estimate the monthly electricity cost of devices like air conditioners and electric heaters. Just enter the power consumption (W), daily usage hours, and number of usage days. The tool will automatically calculate the total power usage (kWh) and apply the progressive electricity billing system used in Korea to estimate the monthly cost.
Based on the Korean residential low-voltage billing system, the calculator applies base and usage rates automatically according to three tiers: up to 300kWh, 301–450kWh, and over 450kWh. With just a few inputs, you can quickly check your estimated electricity bill without complex calculations.
How Electricity Fees Are Calculated
- Check power consumption: Enter the device's rated power in watts (W) as labeled.
- Input usage time: Enter average daily usage time and number of days used per month.
- Calculate total power usage: Divide power (W) by 1,000 and multiply by hours × days to get total usage in kWh.
- Calculate total cost: Apply the base and per-kWh rates based on the applicable tier to get the estimated electricity bill.
Billing Tiers (Korean Residential Low-Voltage Standard)
- 📦 Up to 300kWh: Base fee 910 KRW, Usage fee 120.0 KRW/kWh
- 📦 301–450kWh: Base fee 1,600 KRW, Usage fee 214.6 KRW/kWh
- 📦 Over 450kWh: Base fee 7,300 KRW, Usage fee 307.3 KRW/kWh
Example
Example: 1,000W cooling device, used 5 hours a day for 30 days:
1000W ÷ 1000 × 5 hours × 30 days = 150kWh
Applies to the first tier → 150kWh × 120.0 + base fee 910 = 18,910 KRW
This calculator is useful for understanding and preparing for seasonal electricity costs from frequent use of cooling or heating devices. It’s free to use, requires no installation, and works on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.
